From the recording Ballerina Escape

This song came out when thinking about what would happen if one of those little plastic ballerinas on a spring broke free from her jewelry box perch and escaped to explore the world.  Weird, I know, but that was the idea.  In the music I heard the timidity she might feel as she left the box that she's known forever, and then the building excitement of her heartbeat and (the rapid Bourree) dance steps as she flits across the pavement.  Sadly, at the end, you will hear her return to the box but she now has a soul that yearns for more.
