  1. This Ol' Shirt

From the recording This Ol' Shirt

This song came about through a collaboration with my Nashville buddy Kevan Kirk.  He is a super-talented writer and musician and all-around nice guy.  While writing this one, it's like we read each other's minds.  Lyrics and melody fell together like a hand in glove but then we went through an epic re-write over several months time to be sure every line was hitting home and that the melody was truly memorable like the girl in the song.  I love writing with Kevan and hope this is the first of many. The one, the only legendary Pete Sallis did a killer job on the track and his vocal could be on the radio. I feel like he nailed Tim McGraw on this one!

Lyrics

THIS OL’ SHIRT

Pat Aureli and Kevan Kirk

(V1)

I flew home on leave today

Nothin’ in my old room has changed

School books from senior year

Your picture on my mirror

An old glove, a baseball bat

Dog tags from my grand dad

I opened up that dresser drawer

Found what I was looking for

(Chorus)

This old shirt has seen it all

Those red lips near faded off

If it could talk what it would tell

It’s weathered but still fits me well

The cost was small for all it’s worth

Wearin’ memories in this ol’ shirt

(V2)

Seems like it was yesterday

Waitin’ on the Stones to hit the stage

Checking out the merchandise, I let you cut in line

We talked and laughed and rocked all night

Fell in love by the mornin’ light

One look I knew it never looked better than it did on you and…

(Chorus 2)

This old shirt has seen it all

(Bridge)

It watched you leave in the pouring rain

It's lived, it's loved, it's stained

(Chorus - Breakdown)

This old shirt has seen it all

Those red lips near faded off

Yeah__If it could talk what it would tell

It’s weathered but fits me well

The cost was small for all it’s worth

Wearin’ memories

Oh__ never-forget-you memories

In this ol’ shirt...In this ol’ shirt
